Lotte Arnsbjergs autobiografiske forestilling Pigen under Vandet.

About the performance:
The Call of Loneliness is an intimate and sensorial performance that, through lecture, performance, and live blues music, opens up a different kind of conversation about loneliness.
PhD Salman A’yan Bandish, performing artist and entrepreneur Lotte Arnsbjerg, and blues guitarist Johnny Burgin present a musical and dramatized lecture on human longing and the need for meaning and connection.
What is loneliness, and who is affected by it?
The World Health Organization (WHO), the American Surgeon General, and several Danish authorities have identified loneliness as a serious epidemic that can affect all people. Although the issue appears particularly visible among today’s youth, it can arise at any age. Neurologically, loneliness is often experienced in the same way as physical pain. Many people who feel lonely perceive it as an endless void in life that must necessarily be filled through external solutions.
The Call of Loneliness presents a different perspective—loneliness as a call from the soul to action. When we feel lonely, the pain may be a signal to confront feelings of emptiness and despair in order to open up a rediscovery of connection with the essence of life and one’s life purpose.
Lotte Arnsbjerg and Johnny Burgin bring Salman’s academic lecture to life through the tools of drama and blues music, moving between composition and improvisation.
The performance is directed by stage director Malte Claudio Lind, who also directed Lotte Arnsbjerg’s autobiographical performance The Girl Under the Water.
