About the Library

Copenhagen Main Library is centrally located in the Inner City in the old medieval town, overlooking the Round Tower. The building has previously housed both residences and a factory. It is the city's largest public library, spanning over 6,000 sqm, and offers a wealth of literature for all ages. On the ground floor you’ll find Democratic Cafe and a wide selection of new literature, as well as the possibility to park strollers if you are visiting LÆS, the library's children's floor of 1,000 sqm. There is an elevator, printing facilities, and the opportunity to get guidance and reading inspiration. The library has just opened LIVE on the 4th floor, with newly arranged zones for reading and writing clubs, as well as an event area for literature and author events. Find the program on the library's website.

Your Library

Copenhagen Main Library is designed to be as easy as possible to use. Everything is organized into zones across the 4 floors, and signage and markers guide the way. The library's hosts assist with questions and can provide reading and literature inspiration. Loans & returns take place on the ground floor, where reserved books can be picked up. LÆS on the 2nd floor is shoe-free and analog, with hosts ready to guide you. On LÆR (3rd floor) there are study spaces with charging options.
