About Bibliotekshuset
Centrally located on Amager in a sweet spot of reading-enthusiastic citizens, you’ll find the small, vibrant library, Bibliotekshuset. Bibliotekshuset is open every day of the year from 8 am to 8 pm with an inviting collection of materials, book-loving staff, and space for both contemplation (primarily on the 1st floor and in the ‘non-fiction basement’) and recurring activities.
About the Library
Bibliotekshuset is a local library and meeting point for reading clubs, sewing clubs, Danish Conversation Club, board game club, craft club, the Cultural Group Amar:litt, and many more. The basement of Bibliotekshuset is where you’ll find the 'Non-fiction and Contemplation Zone'. The first floor offers daily newspapers, PCs, and printing facilities, as well as an area for studying and reading.
Bibliotekshuset has a beautiful green rooftop terrace which is local oasis for all citizens in the summer.
The ground floor is an active area and here you’ll find loan/return machines, reservation shelves, fiction for children, youth, and adults, cozy corners for reading aloud, book displays. It’s also here you’ll meet your local librarians during staffed hours.
The local area is characterized by several schools, institutions, apartment buildings, and a large residential area. The area is filled with active, book-loving users, which is reflected in the library's lending and visitor numbers.
