Events for kids and families on the 4th floor
The 4th floor of the Main Library – known as LIVE – is a place where stories and creativity come to life. Throughout the year, we host events for children and families.
The events are engaging and fun and we always focus on children’s literature – both modern and classics. We host bigger live shows as well as more intimate creative workshops. Here children can meet writers and illustrators and engage in different kinds of events – such as live illustration, creative storytelling, workshops, theatre and more.
Language and accessibility
The spoken language is Danish or English. At the bottom of each event description, you’ll find a description of the language requirements for the specific event.
Most events are held in Danish. In many cases, the storytelling or reading part will be in Danish, while the creative activity afterwards – such as drawing, crafting or inventing your own characters – can be guided in both Danish and English, so everyone can take part.
The atmosphere is informal, warm and welcoming. And these events are a great way to explore Danish children’s literature, meet other families, and give your child a fun experience, no matter which languages you speak at home.
Tickets
Admission is free, but you must reserve tickets via billetto.dk to secure a seat.

Go explore LÆS
The Children’s Floor LÆS is an all-new type of childrens library that uses neuroscience and knowledge about children’s reading habits and language acquisition to connect reading with playing and learning.
In LÆS, Copenhagen Main Library has dedicated 1000 square meters to support linguistic development and the love of reading in children aged 0 to 12 years, through 10 activity zones that together form a landscape of nature- and urban-areas open for exploring, discovering books and being challenged physically. We hope that the floor increases love of reading and inspires to read for and with your children
At LÆS you’ll meet our friendly staff. They know everything about childrens books and language development – and can guide children and adults in the use of the floor and can help you find the book you are looking for.
