About Østerbro Library

Among broad boulevards and charming green oases, you'll find Østerbro Library located in Copenhagen's embassy quarter close to the lakes. An inviting local library for inner Østerbro where you can find exactly what interests you among our many exciting books and cultural offerings and activities.  
 

About the Library

Østerbro Library opened in 1885 and is one of Copenhagen Municipality's oldest and largest libraries. It serves as the local library for inner Østerbro and has been located on the ground floor at Dag Hammarskjölds Allé 19 since 1959. 

The library is bright and open with large windows. There are seating areas for both students and guests who wish to immerse themselves in the world of books. The children's section was redesigned in 2021 with a dedicated area for the little ones and a focus on fostering a love of reading. 

The library has a wide collection of literature and offers literary experiences for children and adults with a focus on the joy of reading, communities, and creativity.
