About Vesterbro Library and Culture House

Literature, knowledge, and creativity – in the heart of Vesterbro.

About the Library

The building on Lyrskovgade is situated between Enghaveparken, Vega, and Enghave Plads metro station and was originally a bathhouse.

The country's first children's library was in Vesterbro, and today, children and young people have their own floor to frolic on. Futhermore, we have fiction and non-fiction for adults as well as magazines and newspapers. The rest of the building consists of a culture house, including a large, well-equipped ceramics workshop and classrooms for a 10th grade center.

At the Library

  • Regular offerings for families with children: Morning playgroup, Saturday rhythm classes, and reading events
  • Creative offerings: Knitting café, sewing repair workshop, ceramics workshop and courses, linocut printing
  • Literature offerings: Reading clubs, reading aloud, guided shared reading, and writing club
  • Exhibitions/exhibition opportunities in Arnestedet – the pavillion in Enghaveparken
